A hot spot reignited inside an Amboy house, causing extensive damage, several hours after a shop building fire had spread to the residence.

The cause of the initial shop fire, reported at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday, is undetermined. But Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Rick Searls said the house fire, reported at 12:22 a.m. Monday, had rekindled after the first fire.

Searls estimated the property and content loss from the two blazes to be $300,000. The shop was a total loss, and the fire marshal said the fire spread inside the house quickly because of wood paneling on the walls.

Clark County Fire District 10 crews responded to 19719 N.E. 399th St. for the first fire in an unattached shop. Although the blaze spread to the house, Capt. Ben Goble said the damage to the residence was limited.

Clark County Fire District 13, Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue and Clark County Fire District 3 were called to assist. The blaze was under control in about 30 minutes, Goble said. No one was injured. The Red Cross was called to assist the displaced family.

When Fire District 10 crews were dispatched again for a fire at the same property, Goble said the second fire caused significant damage to the house. Crews cleared around 3 a.m.
