I don’t think many of us can come up with anything to complain about regarding Saturday’s weather. It was a beautiful day with some morning clouds but a wonderful afternoon. You could see for miles.
The pretty snow on the foothills to our east reminded us that we could still see frost in outlying locations. As the old saying goes: If snow remains on Silver Star, frost in the lowlands is possible.
I don’t foresee much in the way of frost, although next week in between the scattered rain showers, any clearing at night could send the temperatures into the 30s. Our flow of air will be from the cool northwest.
The weather Saturday was great for running errands and finally getting my car through the carwash. The line wasn’t even that long. I also made a couple stops at the nurseries but will be careful about what plants I set outside. They may remain under a covered porch for a while.
One downside of these April showers is that the grass continues to grow and grow, rather quickly now. Cutting it was another task Saturday, but the lawn mower wouldn’t start after the winter hiatus. Another task to add to my list.
Today we will enjoy another nice late-April day, with highs reaching close to if not a degree or so over 70 degrees. It was in the mid-60s Saturday around the lowlands of Clark County.
Vancouver’s rainfall for the month is 4.16 inches. We were expecting more thunderstorm activity last week, but there was little development. I thought we would have a good chance to reach over 5 inches of rain and get close to the record for April. But all I see this coming week is scattered light rain or showers, with an eye on another warm and dry weekend coming up.
With the cool northwest flow and daytime heating, there is still a risk of a thunderstorm, so the official rain gauge in Vancouver could still see a dunking.
Enjoy your Sunday outdoors, if you can, and we’ll chat on Tuesday about those April showers. Take care.
