The Interstate 5 Toutle River rest area near Castle Rock will be closed from April 25 through May 5 to allow the Washington State Department of Transportation to complete annual maintenance at the site.
WSDOT crews will repair water and plumbing systems, fix damaged picnic areas, update landscaping and perform routine safety inspections of the electrical system.
The closure affects both the northbound and southbound rest stop areas. The site will close beginning at 7 a.m. April 25 and is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. May 5.
The Toutle River rest area is among the busiest in the state, with more than 2 million annual visitors utilizing the facility, a figure calculated by the number of toilet flushes.
