The weather was still on the wild side Wednesday although not as crazy as Monday and Tuesday. But still we had showers and hail, some that turned the ground white for a while and also a clap or two of thunder was reported.
Some of the showers brought wet snowflakes down to sea level once again but only as they say, “conversational” snow. The heavy snow that closed schools and much of the county’s commerce on Monday was still on the ground Tuesday, quite unusual for mid-April. In fact, our weather so far this week would be more typical of early March.
So, what does April have in store for us the rest of the week? Showers will continue with low snow levels but I believe snow stays sticking on the ground above 1,000 feet. In between the showers Wednesday, I could see plenty of snow on the foothills right down to the deck. With that snow, late frosts are still possible.
Easter Sunday looks dry right now and highs close to the average of 60 degrees. Rain showers most likely on Saturday for those egg hunts, but scattered instead of steady rain. Snow depths in our foothills reported by our local weather observers were between 7 and 13 inches.
