Clark County Public Works’ new director is a familiar face to county staffers. On Friday, County Manager Kathleen Otto announced interim director and finance manager Eva Haney has been appointed to the position.

Haney came to the county in 2020, later taking on the role of interim director in July 2021 after former Public Works Director Ahman Qayoumi left. She has more than 15 years of experience in financial services, primarily providing services to operations and contract management professionals.

Haney previously worked for King County as the budget and reporting manager for the Department of Community and Human Services. She also served as a senior management analyst for the city of Houston and was a registered investment adviser within the state of Texas.

“Eva’s commitment and passion for the Clark County team and public service is evident through her steadfast leadership as shown through her relationships with internal and external partners and providing a culture supporting professionalism and success,” Otto said in a press release.

Haney is eager to take on her new role and is looking forward to building her team.

“This is an exciting change for both the Public Works department and for myself,” Haney said in the press release. “We have talented, hardworking staff within the Public Works department, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to lead the creation of a new chapter in the agency. I am fully committed to building and maintaining an environment of continuous improvement and shared accountability.”
