BATTLE GROUND — Battle Ground Public Schools is launching a new preschool program in September. Similar to the district’s program at Prairie High School, the new preschool will operate within Battle Ground High School.

There, high school students enrolled in Child Development I and II — part of the Family and Consumer Sciences pathway offered through the district’s Career and Technical Education program — will work with young children as part of their studies. The program will initially offer a morning session from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Families interested in the program can attend an open house from 5 to 6 p.m. April 13 at Battle Ground High School.

Battle Ground Preschool will initially have space for up to 20 children. The registration fee is $60, and tuition is $165 per month, with reduced rates available for families who qualify for free and reduced-price meals.

Preschool students must be potty-trained and have a current immunization record on file before attending. For more information on early childhood education available within Battle Ground Public Schools, visit the district website at www.battlegroundps.org/preschool-and-daycare/.
