Vancouver firefighters extinguished a garage fire Saturday afternoon in the Shumway neighborhood.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 6 p.m. to the 800 block of West 33rd Street to find a detached garage engulfed in flames with fire spreading to the main house, according to a press release.

Firefighters stretched hose lines inside the house to extinguish the fire and got the flames under control in about 30 minutes, the press release states. Twenty firefighters, including crews from Clark County Fire District 6 , responded.

The homeowners told firefighters that everyone got out of the house safely, and no one was injured.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
