Battle Ground man killed in motorcycle crash in Sonoma County, Calif.

A Battle Ground man was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on state Highway 1 in Sonoma County, Calif.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 63-year-old Donald Wiens, The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa, Calif., reported.

Wiens was traveling south on the highway about a mile north of Fort Ross Road when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve and hit the guardrail, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at 3:05 p.m.

Officers said Wiens was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
