RIDGEFIELD – It could be argued that no prep football team in Clark County is hotter than the Ridgefield Spudders..and no player is in the zone quite like sophomore quarterback Brayden Malella.
Malella threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns as the third-ranked Spudders scored the game’s first 35 points en route to a 42-7 win over the Hudson’s Bay Eagles in a 2A Greater St. Helens League matchup.
Malella, a junior who entered the game as the county’s top passer with 617 yards, threw two touchdown passes to Ty Snider for 40 and 30 yards and one each to Isaiah Cowley and Jakob Braunstein. At one point, Malella completed seven consecutive passes.
Braunstein caught three passes for 103 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown Sinder hauled in four passes for 96 yards and Cowley added 83 yards receiving for the Spudders, who moved to 2-0 in league play and 4-0 overall.
