The low pressure system off the California coast that we discussed did indeed move northward Tuesday night and most of the measurable rain remained off our coast. Vancouver recorded a trace of rain, but that doesn’t count as measurable.
All that fire smoke aloft combined with the light rain brought ash and soot to the surface. If you left your car out Tuesday night you know what I mean.
Many had to hose off patios and decks. I heard the car washes had a busy day Wednesday. That is plain old yucky weather, isn’t it? It does seem the new normal with wildfires each summer and warm and dry weather.
When is it going to rain? I get many emails asking that. We mentioned here a few days ago that some forecast models were trying to bring in a good soaking rain, say up to one-half inch or so some time late next week. Of course we will keep the weather eye out for that opportunity. I think many of us would be out in the streets dancing with the raindrops. Bring it on, I say.
