RIDGEFIELD – Brayden Mallela threw three touchdown passes, all to Isaiah Cowley, and the Ridgefield defense held Heritage to 82 total yards of offense in a 45-0 non-league win Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
All three touchdown passes came in the last seven minutes of the second quarter on three consecutive drives. Mallela, Logan DeBeaumont and Trevor Allen combined for 226 yards passing and four touchdowns.
Ridgefield, who allowed just 21 points in five games last spring, forced four turnovers as well. Ty Snider had two interceptions, one of which he returned 47 yards for a score.
The Timberwolves’ best chance to score was on their opening drive as they got down to the Ridgefield 3 before back-to-back penalties stalled the drive.
