A man suffered minor injuries early Thursday morning when he was stabbed in the hand and shot in the chest with an airsoft gun, during what police described as “an alleged romantic encounter.”

Vancouver police were called at about 12:30 a.m. for a reported assault with a weapon at 5600 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., emergency dispatch records show.

The man had picked up an unknown female in the parking lot of a convenience store. But when he changed his mind, she attempted to grab his wallet and stabbed him in the hand, according to Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

An unknown male also shot the victim in the chest with an airsoft gun at the same location, Kapp said.

The victim drove away, Kapp said, and was contacted by police near the intersection of Northeast 65th Avenue and Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Kapp said detectives are investigating, and there is limited suspect information.
