How Clark County College Football Players Fared, Oct. 30

By Micah Rice, Columbian Sports Editor
Published: October 31, 2021, 9:01pm

As the nearest college football program, it makes sense that Clark County players would have a big presence at Portland State.

That’s certainly the case this season and especially in Saturday’s 42-21 win over Cal Poly. Darien Chase (Union) and Jalynnee McGee (Skyview) each scored touchdowns as the Vikings improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big Sky.

McGee, a freshman who has played in five games, had a season-high 17 carries for 63 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown. That was McGee’s first touchdown of his collegiate career.

Chase is also a freshman after transferring from Nebraska. Saturday, he had five catches for 28 yards and a 12-yard touchdown, his first of the season. Chase’s 31 catches and 356 yards each rank third on the team.

Along with head coach Bruce Barnum, seven players on this year’s roster hail from Clark County. They include Brady Brick (OL, Battle Ground), Manaia Fuertes (OL, Union), Tom Lambert (LB, La Center), Mason Packer (Ath, Skyview), Serge Rusnak (DL, Evergreen) and Jojo Siofele (RB, Union).
