As the nearest college football program, it makes sense that Clark County players would have a big presence at Portland State.
That’s certainly the case this season and especially in Saturday’s 42-21 win over Cal Poly. Darien Chase (Union) and Jalynnee McGee (Skyview) each scored touchdowns as the Vikings improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big Sky.
McGee, a freshman who has played in five games, had a season-high 17 carries for 63 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown. That was McGee’s first touchdown of his collegiate career.
Chase is also a freshman after transferring from Nebraska. Saturday, he had five catches for 28 yards and a 12-yard touchdown, his first of the season. Chase’s 31 catches and 356 yards each rank third on the team.
