Only a few days left in October and as of 4 p.m. Wednesday Vancouver was running one-half inch of rain above average. That is good. More rain today and tonight ending on Friday. So, we get one last opportunity to add to our total as the weekend looks to be dry.
Good news for trick-or-treaters with a mild and dry evening for Halloween. At least that’s the plan, right? With another quarter- to one-half inch expected before it dries out will ensure October ends up a little above average with the rainfall.
High pressure builds to our east so expect some blustery easterly winds Saturday with the strongest gusts east of I-205 and near the Columbia. The heaviest rain today and early Friday with amounts in the 3- to 6-inch category will remain on the Washington Coast and in the Washington Cascades and Olympics. That is some rainfall! A weak atmospheric river was aimed at the state Wednesday and will slide southward today, but not linger too long over our us, thank goodness. I had several emails from readers saying that they received buckets of rain the last few days while the official reporting station in Vancouver received much less, under two-tenths of an inch both on Monday and Tuesday. But that is how it is with showers, hit and miss. We definitely have various rainfall patterns here in Clark County. You know if you live in a wet location or not.
Our average mean temperature is running nearly 4 degrees below normal this month mainly due to cooler than average high temperatures. We certainly haven’t had that much frost on the pumpkin this month.
