To loosely quote Mark Twain, the demise of the Camas Papermakers has been greatly exaggerated.
After five tough losses to some of Oregon’s best high school teams, the Papermakers won their second straight game on Thursday night, rolling over the 3A Mountain View Thunder 38-7 in non-league action at McKenzie Stadium.
Camas (2-5 overall) got out of the gate quickly, turning two Mountain View turnovers into 10 points in the first quarter and never looked back. The Papermakers ended a dominating first half with a flourish with a 99-yard touchdown drive right before the first half ended.
Camas all but put the game away by churning out an 11-play, 80-yard drive on the first possession of the second half. Jon Schultz ran for 35 of his game-high 96 yards on that drive.
