RIDGEFIELD — On Nov. 9, Ridgefield School District officials recognized the November 2021 employee and students of the month at the regular Board of Directors meeting. November’s employee of the month is James Ruiz, a Connection Center mentor at South Ridge Elementary School. Ruiz started as a volunteer parent who liked to help out on the playground during recess. Ruiz then became the lead recess paraeducator and has spent the last several years teaching students how to be respectful, responsible and resilient on the recess yard. Now as the Connection Center Mentor, he gets to use his skills in even bigger ways. His ability to build relationships and develop trust with students makes him an enormous asset at South Ridge Elementary. November’s students of the month are: Early Learning Center student Carly Jackson, second-grader at South Ridge Elementary School Koa Robinson, second-grader at Union Ridge Elementary School Weston Cornelious, fifth-grader at Wisdom Ridge Academy Josephine Rehley, sixth-grader at Sunset Ridge Intermediate School Robert Hull, eighth-grader at View Ridge Middle School Andrew Soare, and senior at Ridgefield High School Morgan Harter.
