The city of Vancouver is looking for a volunteer with mobility challenges due to a disability to serve on its transportation and mobility commission.

Having someone with mobility difficulties on the commission will represent a perspective that would otherwise be potentially overlooked.

The commission reviews transportation and mobility projects, programs and policies to give the city feedback and advice. Its 11-member group communicates directly with the city council, staff and city manager.

Members normally serve a three-year term, but this opening is for a midterm appointment that is set to expire in October 2023. However, there is an option to seek reappointment. Applicants must live within the Vancouver growth area or immediately outside city limits to be eligible. Interview times with city council members are to be determined.

The transportation and mobility commission meets at 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and meetings are held remotely. Members intend on incorporating the option of in-person meetings in the future.

Those who are interested in applying for the position or viewing past meeting agendas can find more information at cityofvancouver.us/tmc.
