Harless pulls ahead of Blom in Vancouver City Council race

She leads by 29 votes in latest tally

Kim D. Harless has pulled ahead of John Blom in the race for Position 1 on the Vancouver City Council, leading by 29 votes in the latest tally from Clark County Elections.

As of Monday evening, elections officials had counted 16,526 votes for Harless and 16,497 for Blom, for a margin of 49.55 percent to 49.47 percent for Harless. Blom started out ahead by 449 votes on election night and saw his lead dip to 41 on Thursday, gain ground on Friday and evaporate on Monday.

In Washougal, Sadie McKenzie maintained her lead over Donna L. Sinclair for the District 3 seat on the Washougal School District Board of Directors. As of Monday, McKenzie had 2,895 votes, or 52.42 percent, while Sinclair had 2,594 votes, or 46.97 percent.

The Washougal School District crosses county lines, and while McKenzie led in both Clark and Skamania counties, her lead was greater in Skamania County.

No other races or measures were close after the county counted 16,676 ballots on Monday, with 1,700 ballots left to count. To date, the county has tallied 111,121 ballots, representing 34.25 percent of eligible voters.

The next round of results will be released at 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Clark County Elections. The election will be certified on Nov. 23.
