Clark County residents are invited to attend a ceremony honoring a local soldier who died during his military service as part of the “Never To Be Forgotten” series.

The Community Military Appreciation Committee is hosting a memorial for U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. David G. Ries, who was killed on Nov. 8, 2004.

The committee and Patriot Guard Riders will arrive at noon Monday at the Fort Vancouver Barracks, 987 McClellan Road. Ries’ family and other guests will arrive at 12:30 p.m., which will be followed by an hourlong ceremony.

The memorial series honors the anniversary of the deaths of Clark County soldiers who served overseas since Sept. 11, 2001. The series began in 2018 and hosts memorials every three years.
