Blom increases lead over Harless in Vancouver City Council race

The race for Position 1 on the Vancouver City Council remained close on Friday, though John Blom’s lead over Kim D. Harless grew from 41 to 178 votes, according to the latest returns from Clark County Elections.

Results released Friday afternoon showed 14,724 votes for Blom, or 49.85 percent, and 14,546 for Harless, or 49.25 percent. Blom started out ahead by 449 votes on election night and saw his lead dip to 41 on Thursday.

In Washougal, Sadie McKenzie maintained her lead over Donna L. Sinclair for the District 3 seat on the Washougal School District Board of Directors. As of Friday, McKenzie had 2,414 votes, or 51.98 percent, while Sinclair had 2,204 votes, or 47.46 percent.

The Washougal School District crosses county lines, and while McKenzie led in both Clark and Skamania counties, her lead was greater in Skamania County. As of Friday, she had 50.38 percent of the Clark County vote but 62.99 percent of the Skamania County vote.

No other races or measures were close after the county counted 11,716 ballots on Friday. To date, the county has tallied 94,455 ballots, representing 29.11 percent of eligible voters.

The next round of results will be released at 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Clark County Elections. The election will be certified on Nov. 23.
