John Blom’s lead over Kim D. Harless in the race for the Position 1 seat on the Vancouver City Council narrowed to 41 votes in the latest returns from the Nov. 2 election.

As of Thursday afternoon, the tally by Clark County Elections shows Blom with 12,367 votes, or 49.66 percent of the vote, while Harless had 12,326 votes, or 49.49 percent. Blom was ahead by 449 votes on election night and 350 votes on Wednesday.

The only item on the ballot to reverse since Election Day has been the District 3 position on the Washougal School District Board of Directors. Sadie McKenzie had trailed Donna L. Sinclair in the initial returns but pulled ahead on Wednesday and saw her lead grow on Thursday, with 52.23 percent of the vote.

Other races and measures did not significantly change in Thursday’s updated results.

Election workers counted 12,145 ballots on Thursday and had about 28,500 ballots remaining, according to Clark County. The ballots counted so far account for 25.5 percent of eligible voters.

The next results are expected to be released after 4 p.m. Friday.
