Vancouver Fire Department units training at a nearby fire station helped bring an apartment fire under control Monday in central Vancouver.
Firefighters were called at about 2 p.m. to a blaze in a two-story apartment building at 1729 Murton St., in the Maplewood neighborhood. The first units to arrive — less than two minutes after the initial call — saw flames coming from a second-floor unit, according to a department news release.
A total of 24 firefighters responded and were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The fire was contained to one unit, according to Vancouver fire officials, though an adjacent unit did have some minor smoke damage.
No injuries were reported, but one person was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
