Rain, rain go away, come back again another — hold on, wait! Sorry, wrong introduction, we need the rain, so we ask that it stay around, not go away. Goodness, I got carried away. Those showers Monday were delightful, and I could almost hear the plants and shrubs soaking it in and cheering.
As of 3 p.m. Monday Vancouver had measured over one-half inch of rain so far this month, which whittles our deficit down to 1 inch below average. And the good news: the rain showers were continuing as I wrote this column. Today we will see scattered showers here and there, not much in rainfall totals, but every bit helps.
Wednesday will be a warm and dry day before we get a possible good soaking rain on Thursday. That storm appears to have the most moisture we have seen in quite a while. Maybe a half-inch of rain here? Possible. All forecast models agree it will rain but some of the dynamics may dwindle as it moves inland and I’m not sure we get that much. We will see.
The rain Thursday will be the last for the month of May unless we have a stray shower on Friday. High pressure builds in and we warm up, setting the stage for a wonderful three-day holiday weekend. Memorial Day will be warm and dry. As June arrives next week, we could get into the hot category, which is 90 degrees or better.
