OLYMPIA — The state Department of Commerce and the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs are accepting applications for a total of $1.75 in COVID-19 recovery grants for local non-profit veterans service organizations.

The two departments are looking to focus on organizations that have not been helped by state pandemic response aid and assistance, according to a press release from the Department of Commerce.

The grants can be used to cover pandemic-related expenses incurred from March 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021, to help organizations deal with “financial hardships” as a result of the state’s COVID-19 response.

However, the grants cannot be used to cover expenses previously covered by other aid programs, such as the Paycheck Protection Program, the press release said.

Applications for the grants will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Monday and the organization applying must be an established non-profit with 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(19) status and have been in operation at least since 2019.

For more information on the grant program, contact the Department of Veterans Affairs website at dva.wa.gov/ncrgrant.
