I spent an anxious noon hour Saturday looking out my window in the Salmon Creek area waiting for the morning cloudiness to depart. Finally, at 2 p.m., skies cleared — except for a few lingering clouds toward the Cascades — and we enjoyed blue skies and sunshine. Because the clouds lingered so, our high temperature here in Vancouver as of 5 p.m. Saturday was only 67 degrees.
I was expecting it to rebound into the 70s at least, but nature had other plans. Because of the high sun angle and daylight-saving time, our high temperature often occurs after the 5 p.m. readings. I hope it edged up a degree or two after I wrote this column.
We have a complex upper low to our east spinning around and around, which kept clouds banked up on the east slopes of the Cascades on Saturday, and some spilled over into our far east county late Saturday.
We also had a weak low off the coastline Saturday evening that was making its way toward us. The coast was the main target for showers, but we keep a small chance locally today. Then, most likely, we’ll get some light rain Monday. All the computer forecast models show a chance of showers all week into next weekend, with Wednesday having the lowest chance of showers.
