VANCOUVER — Ivar recently retired as a K9 police dog for the Vancouver Police Department, after nearly eight years of service. Ivar was selected in September 2013 and certified that December. The pup was then selected as a SWAT K9 in 2018, and during his career, participated in 1,236 deployments. Ivar will spend his retirement with Cpl. Ryan Starbuck. According to a news release, the Vancouver Police Department K9 Unit has four teams. The department will select a dog to replace Ivar in coming months.
