RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield High School Knowledge Bowl team recently took third place in the national competition against teams from school districts of all sizes. The team prevailed even after the students initially struggled during the first round due to internet connection issues. “We basically went into it just hoping not to be in last place,” the team’s captain Jonah Kropp, said in a news release. Typically held in person, the “Jeopardy!”-style tournament has students buzz in with answers to challenging questions on a wide range of subjects. This year’s national competition was held virtually on Discord due to the pandemic, and was the first national competition for Ridgefield. “We placed third in the final round, but we were just one point away from second and three points away from first,” team member Olivia DesRochers said in the release. “This win is a good thing for Ridgefield,” Coach David Jacobson said.
