Arson investigators were called to determine the cause of a Monday afternoon fire that damaged a tent and other belongings in a homeless encampment west of downtown Vancouver, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Vancouver firefighters and police were called to 11th and King streets at 2:29 p.m. The hot fire created a plume of dark smoke visible for several blocks, but it was knocked down quickly after firefighters arrived.
Investigators were talking with multiple witnesses. No injuries were reported.
