WASHOUGAL — Caroline Reiswig and her husband, Roman Jacobi, of Camas brought their grandson Greyson, 8, to Odd Man Inn animal refuge on a recent weekend so he could make a donation in memory of his mother, Candice Kimberling, Caroline’s only child, who died nine months ago.

Kimberling and her husband, Tony Tarr, adopted Greyson from the Philippines a year before she died unexpectedly in July 2020. Greyson wanted to give the $50 he received for Christmas to the animals. Reiswig added $500 because Candice was a “huge animal lover” and would have turned 50 this month.

Reiswig said she is trying to instill in her grandson the importance of serving and giving, adding that she and her daughter had volunteered since Kimberling was a child.
