Mountain View High School Principal Matt Johnson remains on paid administrative leave nearly two weeks after Evergreen Public Schools placed him on leave for undisclosed reasons.
The district placed Johnson on leave March 16.
District spokeswoman Gail Spolar said that because it is a personnel matter, the district is unable to provide additional information surrounding Johnson’s absence — including whether it is connected to any kind of malfeasance or misfeasance or if an investigation was ongoing.
Johnson has been Mountain View’s principal since 2014 and employed with the district since 2000. He began as a classroom teacher at Heritage High School, then moved to Union High School as a teacher, dean of students, and associate principal. He was an associate principal at Union from 2011-14 before moving on to Mountain View.
The district said Mountain View’s three associate principals — Charles Anthony, Sheri Walker and Rashonda Waters-Smith — are currently overseeing day-to-day operations in the interim. Anthony currently is the administrator in charge at Mountain View, Spolar said.
