Clark County records 33 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths on Friday

Public Health data shows county is averaging about 34 new cases a day for the past two weeks

Clark County recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Friday, according to the latest update by Clark County Public Health.

The new cases push the county’s total to 18,946 cases to date. There were 238 new cases recorded since March 12, or an average of 34 new cases a day, just slightly under the previous week’s total of 241 cases and average of 34.42 new cases a day.

Daily averages peaked in the first week of the year at about 180 new cases a day before steadily declining before bottoming out at about 29 cases a day for the week ending March 5 and rebounding to current levels.

With no new deaths recorded Friday, Clark County’s death toll from COVID-19 stands at 236 to date. There were seven deaths recorded since March 12, though Public Health has noted that the actual deaths likely occurred 10-12 days prior to being placed on the official tally.

There were 283 active COVID-19 cases in isolation as of Friday, up from 280 on Thursday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations were mostly steady, with 23 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on Friday, up from 22 on Thursday, and three people hospitalized awaiting test results, down from nine on Thursday, according to Public Health.

As of Friday, 4.5 percent of the county’s licensed hospital beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients or people awaiting test results, down from 5.4 percent on Thursday.
