Prep roundup: Hockinson flies into 2A district soccer title game

Hockinson dominated its 2A district girls soccer semifinal match on Thursday, beating Black Hills 6-0 at Prairie High School.

The Hawks will face Tumwater for the district championship on Saturday at Battle Ground.

Grace Abbott, Abby Dombrow and Payton Lawson scored in the first. A goal by Ellie Seekins and two goals from Rayelle Stephens capped the win in the second half. Molly Romanchock tallied two assists.

Hockinson (10-0-0) has outscored its opponents 53-0 this season.

TUMWATER 1, COLUMBIA RIVER 0 – The Evergreen Conference champion Thunderbirds scored in the final minute of the first half to deny River a spot in the district title match.

River, the No. 2 seed from the 2A Greater St. Helens League, will face Black Hills for third place on Saturday at Battle Ground.

Volleyball

2A DISTRICT – Emma Swett had 28 kills and 15 digs as Woodland beat Columbia River 3-0 to reach the district semifinals. The set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.

Leanna Russell and Elizabeth Hurn led a solid defensive effort for the Beavers with 27 and 15 digs, respectively.

Ridgefield also reached the semifinals sweeping Mark Morris 25-17, 25-9, 25-19.

Lizzie Andrew had a team-high 9 kills for the Spudders. Her sisters, Allie Andrew and Natalie Andrew each had 8 kills.

Woodland will face Evergreen Conference runner-up Tumwater in the semifinals Saturday at Hudson’s Bay.

Also at Bay, 2A GSHL champ Ridgefield will face EvCo No. 4 seed W.F. West, which upset league champ Centralia on Thursday.

The semifinal winners will play in the championship match Saturday evening.

1A DISTRICT – King’s Way Christian advanced to the championship game with a 3-0 sweep of La Center.

Scores were 25-16, 25-13, 25-23.

King’s Way will face Goldendale in the final on Saturday.

Cameron Young had 10 kills and eight digs, and Abigail Cummins had 27 assists to go with six kills and an ace.

Tiffany Chandler had 16 kills and 15 digs, and teammate Elizabeth LeBouef had 14 assists for La Center, which will play for third place.
