Prep Highlights: Woodland to face Columbia River in 2A district volleyball playoffs

The Woodland volleyball team made quick work of R.A. Long in a 3-0 sweep in the 2A district playoffs Tuesday.

The Beavers won 25-14, 25-8, 25-13 as Emma Swett had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, Mackenzie Gilchrist had 20 assists, and Elizabeth Hurn had 15 digs.

Woodland advances to play at Columbia River on Thursday for a spot in the district semifinals on Saturday at Hudson’s Bay High School.

The other Thursday match has Mark Morris at Ridgefield after the Monarchs beat Hudson’s Bay 3-0.

1A district volleyball – La Center and King’s Way Christian each advanced with 3-0 victories to set up a Thursday showdown.

La Center topped Montesano 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 as Tiffany Chandler had 13 kills and 14 digs and teammates Elizabeth LeBouef had 12 assists and Deanna Baher had 11 digs.

King’s Way moved on with a 25-13, 25-22, 25-8 victory over Elma. Cameron Young had eight kills and eight digs for the Knights.

Star of the day

• Vincent Hsu, Mountain View boys tennis, defeated Union’s Jacob Flentke at No. 1 singles 6-2, 2-6, 10-7.
