It certainly wouldn’t be difficult to get used to weather like we had Monday. Mostly sunny skies and high temperatures pushing toward that 60-degree mark. Enjoy a couple more days through Saturday, and we might reach 60 degrees. After that, the forecast looks cool and wet. Winter is still hanging on to March’s coattails.
I am ready for some warm sunny weather. I know what that means also, cutting the grass, pulling weeds, washing the car, cleaning out the garage and all kinds of that spring-cleaning routine. On the other hand, it means taking a nap in the sunshine, flying a kite, going for a walk, and barbecues. Ah, springtime in the great Northwest. We are getting close.
A funny email from a reader, “March showers are ugh, ugh, ugh. It brings on de slug, slug, slug.” OK, that is a good one and a true one at that! Nature awakens.
A poem I wrote many years ago about the gloomy showery days in March goes like this: “Oh dismal skies, so cold and gray. They keep us from going out to play. My thoughts are full of sunshine and walking through the new green grass. But I have to put that off for another day until this weather does pass. Spring is upon us and daffodils are in bloom, we deserve a little blue sky rather than all this gloom. It has been a long winter; indeed, it started way back when. I am waiting for spring to begin. Counting on my fingers the sunny days we have had, and when I think about it, it makes me sad. Though living here a long time, I know that despite the clouds, wind, and rain, the clouds will soon part, and the sun will emit its bright warm glow.”
