Clark County recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day tally since late September, as trends show a monthslong decline in disease activity may be leveling out. No new deaths were reported.

Clark County Public Health reported that the rate of new cases per 100,000 population over 14 days fell to 103.4 as of Monday, down slightly from last week’s rate of 105.4. The activity rate has been falling steadily since peaking at 473.7 in early January.

The rate, which is used to guide public school reopening, puts Clark County in the “moderate” range for disease activity of 50 to 350 cases per 100,000 population over 14 days.

The 18 new cases reported Tuesday was the smallest single-day number reported since Sept. 30, according to Public Health data. It puts the county’s total COVID-19 cases at 18,585 to date, with an average number of just over 29 new cases a day since Friday, about the same rate as last week.

With no new deaths reported since Friday, the total number of local deaths from COVID-19 remains at 228, according to Public Health data.

The number of active cases fell. There were 188 people with COVID-19 still in their isolation period as of Tuesday, down from 195 on Monday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations remained fairly stable, with 17 people hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 15 on Monday, and one person hospitalized awaiting test results, down from four on Monday, according to Public Health data.

Public Health reported that 73.4 percent of the county’s ICU beds were occupied as of Tuesday, in one of four metrics used to guide reopening decisions. The county also reported that 3.1 percent of all licensed hospital beds in Clark County were occupied by people with or suspected of having COVID-19.
