BRUSH PRAIRIE — Bethel Lutheran Church reached a milestone on Feb. 7, donating more than enough money to purchase a million meals for the North County Food Bank.
Every month since September 2012, there has been a specific collection for the Million Meals program. When Bethel discontinued in-person church services due to COVID-19, the church had donated 883,454 meals.
People still mailed or dropped by the church with contributions. At a “Souper Bowl of Caring” drive-thru collection on Feb. 7, Bethel Lutheran Church completed their million-meal journey.
“Members were so generous. $1,200.87 was dropped in the jar,” a news release said. “And all that money was gathered in one hour.”
