A Vancouver business owner and neighborhood association chair is running for a Vancouver City Council seat, challenging current Mayor Pro Tem Linda Glover.
Glen Yung announced Thursday he was seeking election to Position 3 on the city council.
“I’m running to represent citizens whose voice in city government has been shut out,” Yung said in a media release. “I love Vancouver and I know that together we can preserve everything we cherish about our city while also attracting the right development — how and where it makes sense.”
Yung, a construction contractor, currently serves as chair of the Westside Neighborhood Coalition and co-chair of the Hough Neighborhood Association. He also recently completed serving on the Community Task Force on Council Representation, a group trying to find ways to make the city government more diverse.
Yung frequently offers testimony at city council meetings. He’s often critical of Vancouver’s implementation of the Multifamily Tax Exemption Program, and of the Heights District Plan.
