Longtime Vancouver resident Bill Marshall, named Clark County’s First Citizen in 1966, is turning 100 next month and his family is planning an open house for all of his friends.

The event will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 25 in the Vancouver area, said his daughter, Marilyn Vancil, who is organizing the guest list. She can be reached at marilyn.vancil@gmail.com or by phone at 206-218-6523. She would like to hear from guests no later than July 15.

Marshall now lives in Salem, Ore., with relatives but was a major part of Clark County life for a good part of the 20th century. He owned the local Ford dealership for decades and was well known for his volunteer work and philanthropy. A veteran of World War II, as a P-47 fighter pilot, he flew 97 missions out of Pisa, Italy.
