On Thursday, artisan wares and local farmers selling fresh produce will gather in the north parking lot of La Center Church on the corner of Fifth Street and Aspen Avenue. This spot will host the new La Center Farmers Market every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. until Aug. 26.

The market will feature about 30 vendors selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, jewelry, handmade crafts, leather products, candles and art. For marketgoers who get peckish while shopping, Smokin’ Frank’s East Fork Barbecue will be selling brisket, pulled pork, tacos and side dishes. Local performers will provide live music while shoppers browse.

“People are hungry for relationships and currently many of the community events of the past are still on hold and not taking place this summer,” said La Center Church pastor Michael Kirkman. “One of the reasons for the church to organize this event is to make a place for people to reconnect with one another.”
