Jim King has been hired as chief financial officer of WellHaven. He previously was senior vice president of finance. King also serves as treasurer and board member of the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society. WellHaven Pet Health has more than 40 hospitals, including four locations in Vancouver. Its headquarters is at 700 Washington St., Vancouver.
Elizabeth Higley has received MENTOR Washington’s Brad Owen Excellence in Mentoring Award. Higley is the founder and director of Great Life Mentoring, based in Vancouver, a partnership with the Clark County Department of Community Services and other child-serving mental health organizations. It serves youth between 7 and 18 who receive government-funded health care and may have experienced trauma. The Assistance League Southwest Washington installed new officers for its 2021-22 year during its first in-person meeting on May 20 at Hockinson Meadows Community Park. Officers are Janine Smith, president; Mary Ellen Silk, vice president membership; Geri Rowe, vice president philanthropy; Michelle Craig, vice president resource development; Kathy Holm, vice president strategic planning; Jeanne Lightburn, secretary; Peg Steinmeyer, treasurer; and Judy Dresser, parliamentarian. The Assistance League Southwest Washington is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that serves children in the community.
