Let’s catch up and see how much rain fell in May around the area from your friends and neighbors.
Rob Starr, Cougar, 3.29 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 1.10 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 1.71 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 2.47 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 2.12 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 1.06 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 2.00 inches; Rick Krahn, Camas, 1.60 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 1.20 inches; Mike just west of Fargher Lake, 2.83 inches; Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 1.98 inches; Barry Fitzthum, Amboy, 2.86 inches; William Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 2.39 inches; and Dave Campbell, one mile west of Heisson, 2.10 inches. Our neighbor in Vancouver, B.C., Roland Derksen, recorded 1.90 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 1.04 inches, 1.47 inches below average. Another drier than average spring month.
As you can tell, we had much more rain in May than we have had. Still, our rainfall is way below average. Now June has started out nicely with 1.47 inches so far, which is greater than the 1.04 inches last month. We are about four-tenths of an inch above normal. Good thing; not much rain on the horizon either.
Today we have more sunshine and highs of about 82 or so, which is a couple degrees higher than the 79 degrees we recorded as of 5 p.m. Wednesday. Status quo Friday and Saturday then the heat begins with 90 degrees Sunday and possibly upper 90s Monday, which would be our hottest day this year. If we get an offshore east wind, we could bounce to 100 degrees. Oh my, too hot for me, I’ll be at the coast where it will be much cooler.
