Kahlil Singleton scored 38 points in his return from injury to lead Fort Vancouver boys basketball to a 85-78 win Tuesday over Hudson’s Bay.
Singleton had missed eight of Fort’s nine games this season with an ankle injury.
Tuesday, Singleton hit six 3-pointers as Fort improved to 2-3 in the 2A Greater St. Helens League and 5-5 overall. He had 16 points in the first quarter as the Trappers jumped to a 32-18 lead.
Tre Cannon added 27 points for the Trappers.
Isaiah David scored 26 points to lead the Eagles (3-6, 2-4), who outscored Fort 30-19 in the fourth quarter.
Boys basketball
KELSO 67, HERITAGE 52 — Michael Foust scored 25 points as the Hilanders eliminated Heritage from the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League tournament.
Kelso, the No. 9 seed, advances to play at No. 1 Union on Wednesday.
Quincy Gill led three Heritage players in double figures with 13 points. Quincy Caston and Marcos Diaz-Montes each scored 12.
RIDGEFIELD 52, COLUMBIA RIVER 35 — The Spudders held the Rapids to five points total in the second and third quarters en route to a 2A GSHL road win.
Juelz Mendoza scored 12 points, Henry Hughes had 11 and Carson Knight added 10 for Ridgefield (4-2).
Alden Fay scored 10 points to lead Columbia River (3-3).
Girls basketball
BATTLE GROUND 46, EVERGREEN 30 — Mallory Meyer scored 17 points as the No. 8 seeded Tigers advanced in the 4A/3A GSHL tournament.
Battle Ground will face top-seeded Camas today in the single-elimination tournament.
Coarleigh Speer scored 15 points to lead No. 9-seeded Evergreen.
HUDSON’S BAY 83, FORT VANCOUVER 30 — Jaydia Martin scored 18 points to lead four Eagles in double figures.
Aniyah Hampton added 15 points for Hudson’s Bay, which improved to 6-0 in the 2A GSHL.
Kailey Gonzalez had 14 points for Fort Vancouver (0-6).
RIDGEFIELD 52, COLUMBIA RIVER 39 — Kelli Krsul had 22 points and Grace Goode added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Spudders, who improved to 4-2 in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.
Last year, Ridgefield was 1-11 in league play. Coach Billy McKinney credits the work his players put in during the COVID-19 shutdown
“These kids were outside in 32 degrees practicing at View Ridge Middle School,” McKinney said. “I said ‘do you know why this is happening, it’s because you girls were out there in the cold putting in the work.’”
Krsul had four of Ridgefield’s five 3-pointers.
