A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital severely injured after he was cut off in Ridgefield Sunday afternoon, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and EMS personnel responded around 3:32 p.m. Sunday to a crash at Northeast 10th Avenue and Northeast 189th Street.

According to deputies, Jeremiah Cunningham, 35, of Woodland turned his 2003 Subaru Outback left onto 189th Street right in front of Michael Schefter, 67, from Portland, driving a 1996 Suzuki D6E. Schefter crashed into Cunningham and was severely injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies determined Cunningham failed to yield to Schefter after talking to witnesses and looking at video surveillance, the sheriff’s office stated.

Deputies said Cunningham cooperated with them and didn’t appear to be under the influence. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate and has not arrested anyone.
