Candidate sought for La Center council post

The city of La Center is accepting applications to fill the unexpired term of City Council Position 1 left vacant by the resignation of Councilmember Doug Boff.

Boff resigned effective Thursday because he will be moving out of the area.

The candidate chosen will remain in this position until the current election is certified, which is no later than Nov. 24. Qualified candidates must be a citizen of the United States, a registered voter and a resident of the city of La Center for at least one year prior to appointment.

Applications with letters of interest will be accepted until 5 p.m. July 29.

County council to open meetings to public

The Clark County Council will reopen its public meetings to in-person attendance beginning Aug. 1. The first council meeting that will be open to the public will be a 10 a.m. Aug. 3 public hearing.

The council’s public meetings will have a hybrid approach. Council members, staff and attendees may either participate in person or remotely using the WebEx format.

Other county boards and commissions may also be open to the public in a hybrid format. Refer to the county’s website for specific meeting information.

County employees and visitors entering county buildings are subject to Washington guidance regarding face coverings. Anyone who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is not required to wear a mask. Those not fully vaccinated must wear masks in county buildings.
