Guilt is dead in much of America; selfishness is in. My rights trump your rights, or I’ll sue or riot. Don’t want to get vaccinated for the common good? Too bad for anyone you may infect. That’s their problem; you have your rights. Insist on shooting off Fourth of July fireworks despite a fire danger ban? Go ahead; who cares if you start a fire? Don’t feel like cleaning up the street of fireworks debris the next day? Let your neighbor do it. Don’t want to obey the speed limit? Other drivers can just get the hell out of your way. Don’t like the outcome of an election? Riot; your rights and desires are more important than anyone else’s. Don’t like being preached to? Plug your ears and go, “Me-me-me-me-me.” We’re becoming a nation of spoiled brats.
