The Portland wing of the Air National Guard Base will conduct flyovers of community events on Sunday in celebration of Independence Day.

The 142nd Wing will visit locations throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. The F-15 Eagle fighter jets are scheduled to conduct flyovers at or around these times:

  • 11 a.m. Ridgefield
  • 11:15 a.m. Warrenton, Ore.
  • 11:30 a.m. Neskowin, Ore.
  • 11:45 a.m. Creswell, Ore.
  • 11:55 a.m. Turner, Ore.

“Everyday, F-15 Eagles of the 142nd Wing are on watch,” Col. David Unruh, 142nd Wing commander, said in a media release. “On the anniversary of our independence, we are glad to help celebrate our independence in a very American way. When you look up and see your United States Air National Guard Eagles overhead, remember that your nation is strong.”

All passes will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground and about 400 mph. Flights could be canceled or times changed due to inclement weather or operational contingencies.

McLeman appointed to charter commission

The Clark County Charter Review Commission appointed Bridget McLeman to fill an at-large commission seat at its June 30 meeting.

McLeman’s term ends Dec. 31, at the latest. The position is one of three at-large positions on the commission.

McLeman’s work experience includes serving as regional director of the Children’s Home Society. She also serves on the Clark County Community Action Advisory Board, Sherwood Neighborhood Association and Neighborhood Association Council of Clark County, and she is chair of the Outsiders Inn board.

The 15-member Charter Review Commission is tasked with reviewing the county’s home rule charter approved by voters in November 2014. Any changes to the charter that the review commission recommends would go to a countywide vote in a general election.
