Clark County reported 135 new COVID-19 cases Friday and one death as the post-holiday surge in cases continues to ebb.

Clark County Public Health said the fatality was a woman age 80 or older with underlying conditions. Her death brings the total deaths from COVID-19 in Clark County to 166 to date.

The new cases push the county’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 16,197. There were an average of about 118 new cases a day since Friday, down from an average of 145 a day the week before and 180 a day when cases surged just after New Year’s Day.

Testing data released this week for Dec. 27 through Jan. 2 showed that surge, with a positivity rate of 14.28 percent, up from 9.33 percent the week before, according to Public Health data. More recent testing data is not available.

Improving conditions have not yet translated to a loosening of restrictions in the state’s Roadmap to Recovery plan. The Washington State Department of Health announced Friday that no region in the state had qualified to move out of Phase 1 restrictions.

Information from a state data dashboard showed that Southwest Washington met only one of four key metrics — the percentage of ICU beds occupied — in the most recent data available. The data showed case rates, hospital admissions and test positivity were all out of compliance with standards.

In Clark County, the number of active cases rose to 813, up from 755 on Thursday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations also rose slightly. There were 53 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clark County on Friday, according to Public Health data. There were six people hospitalized awaiting test results.

A state website showed that 14,106 vaccine doses have been given in Clark County to date; there have been 355,836 administered statewide.
