Update: Applegate was located in California and appears to be OK, according to a Vancouver police statement.

Vancouver police are asking for help in locating a 70-year-old man with medical conditions.

Arthur Applegate was last seen walking away from his home on the 6100 block of Kansas Street in Vancouver, according to a Vancouver Police Department news release. Police did not say when Applegate departed.

Applegate told a family member that he was going to “roam around in Portland,” the release says.

He does not have a vehicle; his most recent cellphone number is unknown. His medical conditions affect his memory and mental health, police said.

Applegate is described as white, with hazel eyes and gray hair. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 114 lbs. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket, blue jeans and white shoes. He may also be carrying a small- to medium-sized tan backpack.

Anyone with information on Applegate’s whereabouts should call 911.
