MEADOW HOMES — Western Forest Products recently donated $5,000 to Share, a nonprofit that helps support those without a home. The lumber company based in Vancouver, B.C., presented the check on Dec. 9 and will be used to support hunger response programs. “We are extremely grateful to Western Forest Products,” Diane McWithey, Share executive director, said in a news release. “Since April, our Hot Meals program has seen an increase of 133 percent and we expect the need for meals to continue to increase as individual and family budgets are impacted by temporary closures and unemployment.” Share staff and volunteers prepare more than 8,600 to-go meals each month. “With the challenges this year has brought for many, we believe it is more important than ever that we play a role in helping those in need,” Don Demens, president and chief executive officer of Western Forest Products, said in the release.
