Clark County Public Health confirmed 225 new COVID-19 infections Friday morning. No new deaths were reported.

Eighty-six patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county, a high since the pandemic began in March. There were 83 patients hospitalized on Thursday and 78 patients on Wednesday.

Clark County has seen 14,353 total COVID-19 cases to date, along with 150 confirmed and suspected deaths.

After a few weeks of decreasing novel coronavirus case counts, numbers are beginning to rise again. Public Health cautioned that an spike in cases could be on the way.

Friday’s latest batch of cases is the largest single-day case count in a month. Given the incubation period for cases, transmission linked to recent holiday gatherings should manifest between now and the next couple of weeks.

Hospitals filled up this week, with nearly 82 percent of all hospital beds occupied.

About 81 percent of intensive care unit hospital beds are occupied and nearly 15 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and suspected COVID-19 patients.
